Alpha-GPC

Absorbed quickly, sold at nootropic doses, approved for food at a fraction of them.

Alpha-GPC (L-alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine) is a choline-carrying phospholipid the body also makes from phosphatidylcholine, and it absorbs quickly enough to work as a practical choline source. Two dose worlds exist and they rarely meet. EFSA approved it as a novel food at up to 203.7mg a day, equal to 82.5mg of choline. The cognition trials usually quoted for it used around 1200mg a day, in older adults with cognitive decline, and mostly alongside the prescription drug donepezil rather than on their own. One finding is worth knowing before you start: a South Korean insurance cohort of roughly 12 million people found a higher ten-year stroke risk among alpha-GPC users, with a dose-response pattern. That is observational, users were older than non-users, and no trial has reproduced it, but it is reason enough to treat this as a compound with an open question attached.

Stack Almanac totals your alpha-GPC across every product you log, pre-workouts included, and keeps the date you started so anything you notice has a timeline against it.
