Scan a Supplement Bottle to Add It to Your Stack

Take a photo of any supplement bottle and Stack Almanac's AI identifies it: brand, dose, form, and ingredients. Add it to your protocol in one tap.

You're standing in a health shop, looking at a supplement you've never tried. Or someone recommends a product and you want to track it. Instead of searching a database and entering details manually, just take a photo.

Stack Almanac's Bottle Scanner uses AI vision to identify supplements from a photo of the label.

How it works

  1. Open the Bottle Scanner in Stack Almanac (or send a photo to the Telegram bot)
  2. Take a photo of the supplement bottle, either the front label or the supplement facts panel
  3. The AI analyses the image and identifies: the supplement name, brand, dose per serving, form (capsule, tablet, softgel, powder), and key ingredients
  4. The match is shown alongside catalogue options for one-tap adding to your stack

The identification typically takes 2-3 seconds. The AI reads text from the label and cross-references it against the supplement catalogue, so you get a clean, structured entry, not just raw text from the bottle.

What the scanner identifies

The AI extracts:

  • Supplement name: not just the brand name, but the actual compound (e.g., "Magnesium L-Threonate" from a bottle of "Magtein")
  • Brand: Solgar, Thorne, NOW Foods, Life Extension, etc.
  • Dose per serving: parsed from the Supplement Facts panel
  • Form: capsule, softgel, tablet, powder, liquid
  • Ingredients: active and inactive ingredients listed on the label
  • Confidence level: how sure the AI is about the identification

High-confidence matches go straight to your stack. Lower-confidence matches show you options to confirm or correct.

Works on Telegram too

If you're connected to Stack Almanac via Telegram, you can send a photo directly in the chat. The bot processes the image, identifies the supplement, and asks if you want to add it to your stack, all without opening the app.

This is especially useful when someone shows you a product or you're shopping and want to check if something fits your protocol. Snap, identify, decide.

Free tier includes 3 scans per day

The Bottle Scanner is available to all users, with 3 free scans per day on the free tier. Pro users get unlimited scans.

Why not just use a barcode scanner?

Barcode scanners work for products in a fixed database, but they can't handle:

  • Products with damaged or missing barcodes
  • International products with different barcode formats
  • Bulk or unpackaged supplements
  • Supplements from smaller brands not in barcode databases

AI vision reads the label itself, so it works regardless of the barcode. It also extracts richer information. A barcode gives you a product ID, but the AI gives you the actual supplement facts.

A practical example

You're at a health shop and see "Nordic Naturals ProOmega 2000." You take a photo. The scanner identifies:

  • Supplement: Omega-3 (EPA/DHA)
  • Brand: Nordic Naturals
  • Dose: 1,125mg EPA + 875mg DHA per serving (2 softgels)
  • Form: Softgel

It matches against the catalogue, shows it's compatible with your current stack, and offers to add it to your Breakfast time block. One tap, done.

No searching, no typing, no guessing about the dose. The supplement is in your protocol and being tracked from that moment.
